Electronic Brains is a blog developed by an Ontario educator, with the purpose of examining the impact of digital technology on the adolescent students of today. The blog explores why we as educators must increase our use of digital technology in order to engage today’s learners, and establishes a social networking community to introduce and discuss current tools and resources. Under the resources tab, you will find many online tools to support the digital learner. The site also has a list of games/simulations that are curriculum connected to support differentiated instruction. This site would be quite useful to our junior level teachers, as it not only explores and critiques new tools, but also provides links to “bootcamp” instructions for newbies to the world of technology in the classroom! The Psychology Foundation of Canada – Stress Lessons

The Psychology Foundation of Canada has developed a website, Stress Lessons, focused on providing useful resources to junior level teachers of 21^st century learners. Within this site, there are a variety of videos, lesson plans, and even has a “stress lessons toolkit” which is downloadable for use offline. These lessons provide experiential learning opportunities with hands on activities for students at the junior level. This is a great resource for developing stress management techniques, especially for students who are beginning to have increasingly demanding homework and assignments in the junior years. The website download consists of 7 lessons, plans included, plus letters to parents, videos, classroom posters, etc, all free of charge. The Scholastics books website has expanded to include teacher resources to supplement their book collections! Through their online teacher resource page, teachers can access lesson plans, unit plans, discussion guides, and assignment outlines, with detailed instructions for pre-instruction, during instruction, and post instructional tips. This site blends traditional teaching methods, with 21^st century experiential learning opportunities for grades K through 12. The resources are accessible online, or can be downloaded and used offline! This supports our every growing need to adapt to a new generation of learners that need application based activities and assignments to supplement their in class learning. The website also contains a page of compiled blogs from teachers at a variety of grade levels, which would be a way to develop connections in the teaching world! Check it out!
